Overlanding and Off-Road Adventures Emergency Prep

Most people are preparing for a zombie apocalypse where they
imagine themselves on the road running from Zombies and remnants of the human population cannibalizing each other. There is a much higher likelihood you are
preparing for a natural disaster where water, power and gas is off and you are sheltering in place at your home. This guide is intended to prepare you to shelter in place on or near your property.

That said…  If you want to build a zombie apocalypse rig, you have come to the right place. Just schedule a consultation and we will help you configure and build your dream rig that also includes everything outlined in this guide.

Water Storage and Purification (1 gallon per person perday)

Lighting and Power:

This section is a challenge because modern lighting and power require fuel, and mass fuel storage for most people isn’t really practical. If you have a gas generator and can store fuel, make sure to store fuel that is ethanol FREE otherwise it turns to syrup in a few short months, becomes unusable and clogs your generators carburetor. The best
mass fuel storage is propane, and will require a propane generator and a lot more fuel than can be stored in 5 gallon containers.

Solar power & storage is the best way to go if your natural disaster takes place while it’s sunny outside so we will cover some options there to ensure you can charge flashlights and lanterns. In the end, we will recommend some old fashion lighting solutions that can be stored forever, and don’t require electricity.

Warmth and Shelter:

Pro Tip: having a tent to pitch inside your home will keep you and the family warmer at night than sleeping in your bedrooms without heat. The heater we have selected is the gold standard for camp heaters and is rated safe for indoor use.

Health and Hygiene:

  • Medical Kit
  • Backup supply of Prescription Medications
  • Backup supply of Basic
    over-the-counter drugs (Advil, Tylenol, Robitussin)
  • Backup supply of Sanitation
supplies (toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, Paper towels,
    Body and Dish Soap).
  • Backup supply of Hand sanitizer and
    tons of wet wipes
  • Backup supply of trash bags and
    cleaning supplies
  • Washable Micro Fiber Towels for cleaning

Safety and Tools:

Miscellaneous:

  • Shelter in place works much better
if you can cooperate with your neighbors. Especially if things get a little
crazy. Forming a village allows you to sleep while others stand watch so you
will do the same for them. So, cash is good to have, but people will want to
trade that dollar for dollar. A bottle of whiskey will hold sentimental and
emotional value that will be valued much higher than its dollar value. You can
use a bottle of whiskey to trade for someone’s time to build you a shelter if
necessary, or something bigger than a simple transaction.
  • Why Bulleit Rye instead of some
cheap swill? Cuz you are going to want to dig into your stash too!!  So make sure you stock something that you are
willing to part with in a trade, but something you wouldn’t mind sipping while
waiting for the local Total Wine and More to re-open!
  • Extra cash (One Thousand $1).
  • Bulleit Rye 750 ml for barter and
    trade for services
