Off Road 4x4 Automotive Mechanic Technician
Next Jump Outfitters is looking for an Off Road 4x4 Automotive Mechanic Technician in Tacoma, WA. If you love all things Off-Road and Overland, are driven to provide an excellent customer experience and have your own tools, this is the job for you. Next Jump Outfitters exists to make it easy for our customers to build the perfect rig, outfit it with gear that is proven, and live a life of exploration without all of the work that comes with it. We do this Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
What You’ll Do
- Perform professional installation and modification of vehicle accessories, including but not limited to:
-Wheels, tires, suspension and lift kit installations
-Flatbed Truck Body installation and wiring
-Off-Road Trailer Builds
-Roof racks and cargo carriers
-Towing packages and hitch installations
-Interior and exterior lighting upgrades
-Electrical system enhancements
-Other vehicle customization services as required
- Utilize your own tools and equipment to efficiently and effectively complete installation projects to the highest quality standards.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles prior to installation to ensure compatibility and identify any potential challenges or issues.
- Interpret and follow technical instructions, wiring diagrams, and installation guides to ensure accurate and proper installations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
- Collaborate with team members, including sales staff, to ensure accurate and timely communication regarding project timelines and requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, product knowledge, and emerging technologies related to vehicle customization and installation techniques.
- Promote store sales and provide excellent customer service.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience as a Off Road 4x4 Automotive Mechanic Technician or a similar role, with a strong focus on vehicle customization and modification.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools required for vehicle installations.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including wiring and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with various vehicle makes and models, and the ability to adapt installation techniques accordingly.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle challenges and unexpected situations during installations. We don’t say “No,” we provide solutions.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize and complete multiple projects within deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Own a comprehensive set of tools required for vehicle installations:
-Basic Hand Tools: Wrenches (standard and metric), Socket set (with ratchets and extensions), Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead), Pliers (needle-nose, slip-joint, locking), Adjustable wrenches, Torque wrench, Pry bars, Hammer, Tape measure, Marking tools (pencils, markers, chalk)
-Power Tools: Cordless drill with various drill bits and drivers, Cordless tools (Drill, impact wrench, die grinder, angle grinder with cutting and grinding discs), Welding equipment (MIG, TIG, or stick welder, welding mask, gloves)
-Specialized Tools: Suspension tools for installing lift kits and upgrading suspension components, Specialty wrenches for axle and differential work
-Safety Gear: Safety glasses, Ear protection, Welding helmet and gloves, Respirator mask for working with paint or chemicals, Protective clothing (coveralls, flame-resistant clothing), Steel-toed boots
-Diagnostic and Measuring Tools: OBD-II scanner for engine diagnostics (if applicable), Multimeter for electrical troubleshooting, Measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)

Auto/Boat Detailer
Next Jump Outfitters is looking for an Auto & Boat Detailer in Tacoma, WA. If you have a passion for off-road vehicles and a keen eye for detail, we invite you to apply for this position. Experience detailing is not required but a willingness to work hard and produce great results…we will train you. The schedule is 8 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday.
What You’ll Do
Auto Detailing
- Thoroughly clean vehicles, both inside and out, to maintain their appearance and functionality.
- Perform meticulous exterior cleaning, including washing, waxing, and polishing to remove dirt, mud, and debris.
- Clean and treat tires, wheels, and undercarriages to remove built-up grime and preserve their condition.
- Clean and sanitize interior surfaces, including seats, carpets, mats, and dashboard components.
- Vacuum and steam-clean carpets and upholstery to remove dirt, stains, and odors.
- Ensure that all windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces are spotlessly cleaned.
- Clean and maintain off-road vehicle accessories, such as roof racks, winches, and protective armor.
- Inspect vehicles for any damage or wear and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
Boat Detailing
- Thoroughly clean & dry boats exterior to maintain their appearance and functionality.
- Perform meticulous exterior cleaning, including washing, waxing, and polishing to remove dirt, salt and debris.
- Ensure that all windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces are spotlessly cleaned
- Ceramic coating application, Gelcoat repair, teak cleaning and sealing.
- Engine Bay Cleaning and degreasing. Dressing and protection for engine components
- Concierge mobile marine services including luxury boat care packages for regular maintenance.
- Inspect boats for any damage or wear and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning products, tools, and equipment to achieve the best results.
Shop Duties
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper storage and maintenance of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging cleaning techniques for off-road vehicles & boats alike.
- Handle administrative activities related to the shop as needed
- Create an exceptional experience for every customer by greeting them and answering questions related to merchandise & beyond
- Oversee the shop if General Manager is not available
- Order, deliver, pick up parts, transfer vehicles as directed by shop General Manager
- May cross train to perform other duties (driving forklifts, etc.)
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by General Manager

We Will Provide:
- Pay Scale: $20.00 - $25.00 Hourly
