Operations Manager
Tacoma, WA | Full-Time | $28–$35/hr DOE + 3% Commission on Billable Hours
You keep the chaos out, the momentum in, and the shop spotless.
We’re looking for an operational powerhouse to run our calendar, front desk, and shop floor like a pro. This isn’t just about keeping things moving, it’s about keeping them sharp. You’ll be the reason customers walk in and immediately trust that we know what we’re doing.
NJO builds high-end overland rigs, and that means high-end expectations. We don’t cut corners, and we don’t tolerate clutter, physical or operational. You’ll own the flow of quotes, scheduling, communication, and yes, even shop supplies. Because around here, clean is confident. And customers can smell disorganization the moment they walk in.
You won’t be on your own. This is a team role. You’ll work directly with ownership and the Chief Engineer to align priorities and execute fast. You’ll lead the day-to-day, but when something major or new is needed,
you’ll make a clear recommendation, we’ll align as a team, and move fast.
What You’ll Own
- Scheduling + Calendar Management
No double-bookings. No idle techs. No chaos. The calendar is yours. - Customer Experience + Front Desk
Be the face of NJO. Handle calls, emails, and walk-ins with clarity and kindness. - Quotes + Estimates
Build quotes quickly and accurately. Follow up like it matters, because it does. - Shop + Team Coordination
Run the daily huddle. Keep every job on track and every tech unblocked. - Facilities + Supply Management
Keep the showroom and shop REI-clean. Order supplies before they run out. Own the look and feel of the building like it’s your brand, because it is.4 - Workflow + Accountability
Lead with systems. Raise the bar. Own the results.
You Might Be a Fit If...
- Mandatory
- You’ve run ops in a shop, service business, or fast-moving customer-facing role. - You don’t wait to be told, if something’s off, you fix it.
- You take pride in a clean, organized space and expect others to do the same.
- You’re confident managing others, but don’t have an ego about it.
- You’re obsessed with follow-through, quotes out, emails replied to, messes handled.
- You want to work somewhere that values discipline, trust, and no-BS leadership.
Compensation
- $28–$35/hr DOE
- 3% commission on all billable hours
- Full-time (40 hrs/week), with growth runway
- Execution is rewarded. Ownership is expected.
Why NJO?
- Execution Leadership. You won’t be micro-managed. But you won’t lead alone.
- Team-Based Culture. We solve problems together. Recommendations go up, decisions come down fast.
- Operational Excellence. We don’t build junk. We don’t run a junkyard. Everything
reflects who we are. - Built for Growth. If you’re great, there’s room to lead more. We grow together.

Off-Road Shop Attendant
Tacoma, WA | Full-Time | $20–$24/hr DOE
At Next Jump Outfitters, a 120VC company, we bring proven systems, leadership, and discipline to an industry that’s long been dominated by toxic, power-driven cultures. Our purpose is to uplift hardworking people and build something better. That starts in the shop.
We don’t hire bodies to fill roles. We invest in people who will protect the shop, care for the gear, and contribute to work that measurably improves customer satisfaction, team member satisfaction, and profitability, none at the expense of the others. That’s the guardrail. It’s how we eliminate internal conflict, surface trade-offs early, and keep the entire company pulling in the right direction.
If you think of this as “just a job,” it’s not the right fit. But if you understand that every part, tool, and vehicle represents potential, and that your ownership of the space makes the entire company better, you’ll thrive here.
If you see it, own it.
Here’s what we’ve seen over 25 years: people often do a better job for the customer than they do for the company that signs their paycheck. That’s backwards. At NJO, your standard of excellence is measured by how well you maintain our shop, tools, and vehicles. We can’t inspect every client detail, but we can see how you care for the things right in front of you. That’s the benchmark. When you deliver a superlative job on our equipment, we trust that same standard is showing up for our customers.
Your Core Responsibilities
Teamwork
Honor the team’s commitments. When we
agree on how something will be done, that’s not a suggestion, it’s a decision.
If you hit an obstacle, bring it back to the team before pivoting. Making unilateral decisions breaks trust, wastes resources, and isn’t teamwork.
Shop Standards + Cleanliness
Keep the shop, showroom, office, and
yard spotless. Not “good enough”—REI clean. Always inspection-ready.
Customer Experience Support
Greet walk-ins. Answer phones. Help
with quote prep and follow-ups. Present the kind of front that earns trust.
Install Prep + Detailing
Support staging, light install work,
and vehicle/boat detailing. If it leaves our shop, it should reflect our standards.
Parts Runs + Inventory
Handle parts pickups, vehicle
transfers, and inventory updates in Shopify. No lost parts. No “I thought
someone else did it.”
Jumping In
When something needs doing, you handle
it. You’re not “just the shop guy”—you’re the reason the shop works.
You Might Be a Fit If…
- You’re an off-road overlanding enthusiast.
- You’ve detailed vehicles or boats, and care about the results.
- You see things others miss, and fix them without being asked.
- You can stay productive without someone hovering.
- You take pride in a clean, organized space.
- You like physical work and can lift up to 100 lbs safely.
- You have a valid WA driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a
reliable vehicle you can tow with.
Why NJO?
Execution Leadership. You won’t be micromanaged; you will be trained. If you need to be told what to do, this isn’t the job for you.
Team-Based Culture.
The Ops Manager and Lead Tech run point. You run support. Together, we don’t miss.
Operational Excellence. We don’t build junk. We don’t run a junkyard. Everything reflects who we are.
Built for Growth.
If you bring the hustle, we’ll bring the opportunity.
