For boats with a clean finish that could use enhanced gloss and smoothness, without the need for compounding or correction.
This service is ideal for vessels in excellent condition that desire a deeper shine and enhanced surface clarity through professional finishing and long-term ceramic protection.
Step 1: We begin by pressure rinsing the vessel using a wide fan tip from a safe distance (24–36 inches) to remove loose salt, debris, and buildup without damaging gelcoat, decals, or trim.
Step 2: We apply Star Brite Sea Safe Wash using a Griot’s Garage Foam Cannon, covering the entire exterior with a thick, even layer of soap and allowing it to dwell to soften grime.
Step 3: Our detailers wash the entire exterior by hand using soft-bristle brushes, working from the top down. We also spot-treat windshields, brows, and bows with Griot’s Garage Bug & Smudge Remover, and use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers around caulk seams, rub rails, and non-skid edges to remove stubborn buildup. Then, the vessel is thoroughly rinsed to remove all soap and residue.
Step 4: We perform a complete decontamination pass using a Griot’s Garage Fine Surface Prep Mitt lubricated with soapy water, removing bonded contaminants like water spots, oxidation film, and surface haze. Once decontamination is complete, the vessel is thoroughly rinsed to remove any remaining soap or loosened debris in preparation for drying.
Step 5: The entire boat is hand-dried using microfiber towels, with extra attention given to tight areas like cleats, hatches, and rail bases to eliminate streaks and prevent trapped moisture.
Step 6: We polish the exterior using Meguiar’s M205 Professional Ultra Finishing Polish on a Black BOSS Perfecting Pad, working in overlapping passes. After polishing each section, we remove residue by hand with microfiber towels, enhancing clarity and gloss.
Step 7: We strip polishing oils using Glidecoat Surface Wipe to ensure proper ceramic bonding. We spray the panel generously, then wipe thoroughly with a clean microfiber towel. Immediately after, we dry buff the area using a second towel to remove all residue. We inspect under proper lighting and repeat if any streaks or slickness remain. This leaves the surface surgically clean and ready for ceramic application.
Step 8: Step 6: We apply Glidecoat Marine Ceramic Coating by hand using soft microfiber applicator pads. We work in small, overlapping sections—no larger than 3 ft by 3 ft.
We apply a quarter-sized drop of coating onto the center of the applicator pad and spread it evenly using a cross-hatch pattern (up/down, then side-to-side) until the section has a uniform wet sheen.
Immediately after applying, we buff the section with a clean microfiber towel using light-to-medium pressure to level the coating and work it into the surface. We follow with a second fresh microfiber towel to remove any excess and eliminate streaks or high spots.
We do not wait for flashing or haze, and we do not buff like wax—we level, removing only the excess while leaving the bonded coating behind.
This process is repeated, one section at a time, with slight overlaps to ensure full coverage. A second coat may be applied after 1 hour. The surface must remain dry and untouched for 24 hours to cure fully.
Important:
· Always follow Glidecoat’s temperature guidelines: apply only between 50°F and 85°F in a dry, shaded environment.
· Do not apply in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.
· Use fresh applicator pads and towels—do not reuse between sections.
· Let coating cure 24 hours before exposing to water.
Step 9: To complete the service, we clean all glass surfaces using Griot’s Garage Ultra-Premium Glass Cleaner and Imar Strataglass Protective Cleaner for soft vinyl enclosures, such as isinglass or Strata glass, ensuring streak-free clarity without compromising material integrity.
